Cookie Bowls

Posted in Food, Photos, Random with tags , , , , , on October 8, 2011 by Samantha Rose

So I saw these on Tumblr and thought it was a genius idea! So last night, me and my mom made some cookie dough and started trying to make these. They seem pretty easy at first. All you do is turn over a muffin tin, grease it, and then put cookie dough over the tin and bake it. Sounds simple, right? Yeah it’s not so easy. We learned pretty quickly that you need to put a cookie sheet underneath the muffin tin just in case the cookies grow too much and spill over the tin. (Luckily we caught ours before they started to spill). And the cookies grew a lot. Now we made chocolate chip cookie bowls, but we want to try using a different kind of cookie that maybe doesn’t grow as much. Anyway, we struggled quite a bit with several batches, but we finally figured it out! Here’s how we did our cookie bowls: (we used a log of cookie dough because it was firmer than our home-made recipe.)

Cut the log of cookie dough into pieces that measure about 5/8 of an inch.
Flatten each of the cookie dough pieces.
Grease the upside-down muffin tin and then put cupcake papers on every other spot so none of the cookies will be right next to each other (this is to stop them from really growing into each other. They still might a little bit, but it’s not as bad.)
Put the cookie dough pieces on top of the wrappers and form the dough around the wrapper (you want the dough to go down the wrapper a little bit. That way it will form a taller bowl.)
Put a cookie sheet under the pan just in case the cookies do grow too much.
Put in the oven (we used Albertsons’ cookie dough and we had to bake it for the maximum time–13  minutes).
After bowls are done baking, take out of the oven, but let them bake a little longer on the tin (we let ours sit for about 3 minutes. This hardens them up a little more.)
After the bowls have sat for a few minutes on the tin, flip the bowls onto a plate. Let them cool in the wrappers for about 5 minutes (This helps them hold the shape of the bowl.)
Gently peel the wrappers off and fill with ice cream, pudding, mousse, or whatever else sounds good to you!

I hope this made sense! From what I’ve seen on Tumblr, a lot of people have been struggling with getting the bowls to hold their shape. So I hope this helped with that!

Cool Stuff

Posted in Fashion, Music, Photos, Random with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 11, 2011 by Samantha Rose

Another list of some cool things!! =) (This one is just 5 things because I have to go decorate for Homecoming in a bit…)

1. Bon Iver. I just discovered this band, although they are not new. Bon Iver’s first CD, titled For Emma, Forever Ago was released in 2007. Justin Vernon recorded the bulk of this album while spending three months in a cabin, pretty much alone, in Wisconsin. The band’s second CD, a self-titled album, was released in June of this year. Although both albums are good, my favorite is For Emma, Forever Ago. The songs are beautiful and very different (I think) from anything else I have on my iPod. Which is a good thing I think. Also, Bon Iver radio on Pandora is just as awesome.

2. Jon McLaughlin‘s new CD. Jon McLaughlin is one of my favorite singers. The first time I ever heard him was at the Kelly Clarkson concert I went to a few years ago. He was her opening act and my goodness, he’s amazing live! Molly and I soon fell in love with his music. His first CD, titled Indiana, was released in 2007 and his second album, titled OK Now, was released a year later. Now, he’s released his next album (a 3 year wait!! Ugh) titled Forever If Ever. I bought it yesterday, and I’m already in love, even though I haven’t listened to the whole album yet. My favorite song so far is My Girl Tonight.

3. Kate McGill. I found this girl on Youtube one day while looking for a cover of a song (I don’t even remember what it was anymore). She usually sings in her bathroom, but even so she always sounds amazing! She’s releasing her debut album this month, on the 26th. I’m very excited about it! I wish I lived in the UK though because that’s where her tour is going to be (she’s from the UK so it makes sense). Guess I’ll have to go spend a few months over there! =)

4. Capes. Sounds a little weird, right? I don’t mean superhero capes, but fashionable, I-want-to-wear-this-everyday capes. My favorite is a BHLDN cape that Lily Collins wore in the October issue of Teen Vogue. BHLDN has a ton of gorgeous capes, boleros, cardigans for your wedding day. However, they are super expensive! (The one I love is $400…Yikes!) Forever 21 does have a very affordable trench cape that I wouldn’t mind owning!

5. H&M. I LOVE this store. Unfortunately there isn’t one in Montana, so I rarely shop there. Their ads (TV and print) are amazing, their clothes are amazing, and the stores themselves are really fun to be in. If there was one closer to me, I’m sure I would spend a lot of time in it.

Photos from my day

Me & my family decided to spend today up in Glacier Park and the surrounding area…our day included breakfast at the Whistle Stop Cafe, mini-golf, a visit to the Hungry Horse Dam, laser-tag and arcade games at the Zone, a trip to Moose’s Saloon for pizza & peanuts, and a stop in East Glacier for dessert. Bliss.

I hope all of you had a fantastic weekend as well!

Cool Stuff

Posted in Movies, Photos, Random, This post comes out of boredom.. with tags , , , , on August 16, 2011 by Samantha Rose

So..this post is about, well, cool stuff I guess. (Because that’s not super vague or anything…)

1. Webcam!! I just installed our webcam on our computer so I can do cool stuff like this….

2. Google Chrome, which I downloaded because I wanted this photo editing software…little did I know that Google Chrome is one of the coolest things ever. At least right now, anyway. It’s probably actually not that cool, but I just think it is because I just started using it.

3. The editing software mentioned above, which lets me do cool stuff like this….

4. BFF Taylor on Youtube (and Twitter). I just started watching her channel, and she’s hilarious! She’s really crazy and hyper pretty much all the time, but that’s ok!

5. This…

6. The Computernerd on Youtube and Twitter…also this shirt by him…

7. This (very expensive) necklace from Tiffany & Co.

8. The Hunger Games movie. The books were awesome, and judging by the few pictures released from filming, the movie is going to be amazing too.

9. This shop on Etsy that does really cool car decals.

10. The show How I Met Your Mother. Me & Molly watch it most mornings because it is so funny! Our favorite is Barney, played by Neil Patrick Harris.

Favorites

Some of my current favorite things:

1. Book in the Bible: Psalms. Always. I think Psalms is one of those books that has something for everyone…

2. Verse: I couldn’t pick just one, so here are a few of my favorites…
Psalms 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalms 116:6-9 “The Lord protects the simplehearted; when I was in great need, he saved me. Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. for you, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.”
Matthew 6:27 “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”
Matthew 5:3-5 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
Acts 20:24 “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”

3. Song: Shipwreck by Starfield This song really means a lot to me…I can still remember hearing it for the first time in Seattle, sitting at the desk in our room at the Ronald McDonald House and just sobbing. This song made me start listening to Starfield again, and that band is the reason why I went to the Dare 2 Share conference in Seattle a couple of years ago. That conference renewed my faith and strength in the Lord. I don’t know where I would be today if I hadn’t gone there and had the experience that I did.

4. One of my favorite places (in town) : The museum at sunset…it’s gorgeous & it’s where I usually go to take pictures…I also go out on those roads to walk at night. It’s breathtaking…

5. Activity: Besides relaxing and enjoying summer, taking pictures of our garden and flowers around town to remind myself that winter does not last forever…

6. Rediscovering how much I love to blog and write…will hopefully continue to do it more often!! After I’m done posting this…I have decided to try to write some poetry again. I haven’t written poetry in what feels like forever. I do have story in my mind though…but we’ll see how that goes.
